In cooperation with the Dublin Festival of History, the Norwegian Embassy has celebrated the shared Viking heritage with Ireland with a Viking seminar and lectures in Dublin.
The first Norwegian female saint, Saint Sunniva, was, according to the legend, an Irish princess who settled in a cave in an island, Selja, on the west coast of Norway, which was the traditional Viking sailing route along the coast.
As part of the celebrations, the Bishop of Bjørgvin (west coast of Norway) visited Dublin and Waterford to thank Ireland for bringing Christianity to Norway.
