 Death of Consul General Dariusz Adler

ITS WITH DEEP REGRET THAT WE ANNOUNCE THE DEATH OF DARIUSZ ADLER CONSUL GENERAL OF THE REPUBLIC OF POLAND IN NORTHERN IRELAND WHO PASSED AWAY ON SUNDAY MORNING.

MR ADLER AGE 53 WAS APPOINTED LAST NOVEMBER AS THE FIRST CONSUL GENERAL  IN THE NEWLY ESTABLISHED CONSULATE GENERAL OF POLAND IN BELFAST.

HE HAD SERVED IN THE PREVIOUS 4 YEARS AS CONSUL GENERAL IN SCOTLAND AND HAD RESPONSIBILITY FOR NORTHERN IRELAND AS WELL.

A NATIVE OF WARSAW MR ADLER JOINED THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS IN 1996 AND WORKED INITIALLY ON POLANDS RELATIONSHIP WITH NATO AND BLOSSOMED IN TO A CAREER BUILDING BRIDGES WITH POLANDS SIGNIFICANT INTERNATIONAL DIASPORA.

HIS FIRST POSTING AS A CAREER DIPLOMAT WAS IN CHICAGO AFTER WHICH HE RETURNED TO POLAND IN 2006 TO THE DEPARTMENT OF CONSULAR AND POLONIA AFFAIRS. MR ADLER WAS THEN POSTED TO LONDON AS HEAD OF CONSULAR SERVICES AT THE EMBASSY AND AFTER 3 YEARS WAS PROMOTED TO THE CONSULAR DIVISION OF THE EMBASSY WHICH IS THE BUSIEST IN THE WORLD FOR CONSULAR ACTIVITY.

FINALLY HE ACCEPTED THE POSITION OF CONSUL GENERAL IN SCOTALND IN 2013 BEFORE MOVING TO THE NEW CONSULATE IN BELFAST IN NOVEMBER 2017.

I HAVE HAD THE PERSONAL HONOUR AND PRIVILAGE TO HAVE WORKED WITH DARIUSZ ADLER  IN MY ROLE AS HONOURAY CONSUL OF POLAND OVER THE PAST 5 YEARS.

HE WAS MAN OF GREAT ENERGY AND COMPASSION AND I REGARD MY YEARS WORKING ALONGSIDE HIM AS A REAL JOY AND I WILL MISS HIM GREATLY.

I OFFER MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS WIFE KRYSTYNA, SON MACIEK AND DAUGHTER MARTA.

REST IN PEACE DARIUSZ.
