The exclusive, 3-part interview series with His Excellency Dr. Masoud Eslami, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Ireland began running today, 27 October.
In this video interview our Diplomatic Editor – Miceál O’Hurley is asked about the interview, his insights and the role of a journalist in reporting on diplomatic affairs.
Interests in these interviews, beginning with the video interview of His Excellency Pierre-Emmanuel De Bauw, Ambassador of Belgium to Ireland, the written 3-part series of interviews with the Iranian Ambassador and the series of interviews with Ambassadors concerning the Covid-19 pandemic and diplomacy have seen visits to Diplomat.ie rise by more than 609% over the past two months. “While we may not receive a lot of ‘Likes’ on social media, this is due to Ambassadors, Embassy, Consulate and MFA personnel not wishing to publicly display preferences for the issues we cover” said Miceál. “We can track the number of impressions and interactions we get on social media, and know the number of shares that occur, as well as the number of hits we get on our web site” he added. “There is clearly interest in following the diplomatic corps’ work and the issues Ambassadors and the MFA discuss and present so I feel confident we will see more reporting of this nature on Diplomat.ie, especially as Covid-19 is making Embassies more electronic and Zoom friendly to communicate and find new ways of building and sustaining relationships with messaging”.
Part II of the interview series with His Excellency Dr. Masoud Eslami of the Islamic Republic of Iran returns tomorrow, 28 October and concludes on Thursday, 29 October 20202.
