Minister Byrne Welcomes Launch of the Multilingual Digital Platform for the Conference on the Future of Europe
Minister of State for European Affairs, Thomas Byrne T.D. has welcomed today’s launch of the EU-wide Multilingual Digital Platform as part of the Conference on the Future of Europe.

The platform will allow citizens from across the EU to have their say on the topics that they consider important for the future of the EU. The platform will enable EU citizens to put forward their ideas, comment on other people’s ideas, create and participate in events and the platform will also act as a  central hub where all contributions to the Conference will be brought together and shared.  The platform can be accessed at Conference on the Future of Europe (europa.eu).

Launching officially on Europe Day, 9 May, the Conference on the Future of Europe will include a range of events across the EU aimed at promoting greater citizen involvement in the EU.

Speaking after the platform’s official launch in Brussels, Minister Byrne said:

“I am pleased that the Digital Platform for the Conference of the Future of Europe has launched today. Ireland welcomes the platform’s potential to allow all of our citizens engage directly with this important EU initiative. The platform will be an excellent resource to enable all EU citizens to have their say on the future of Europe. The fact that the platform is available in English and Irish and that all EU citizens, including those in Northern Ireland, can take part no matter where they live, is particularly welcome.

The Conference on the Future of Europe will provide an opportunity to consider the challenges the European Union faces and our policy priorities in addressing them together. Europe cannot recover from the COVID-19 crisis without the support and trust of its citizens.

I am delighted that in Ireland, we have a positive record of direct engagement with citizens through the Citizens’ Dialogues and the Citizens’ Assembly. I hope to build on this engagement throughout the Conference and welcome the opportunities this platform can provide to facilitate this. I encourage all Irish citizens to engage with the platform and submit their ideas and suggestions. I look forward to announcing our national plans for the Conference soon to coincide with the official launch of the Conference in May.”
